Shazam drinking a Bud Light. The Winter Soldier waiting for a portable toilet. Venom giving Carnage a piggyback ride. Scorpion from Mortal Kombat passing a joint on his left-hand side. Comic Con is full of these absurd moments — fans dressing up as super-humans behaving entirely human, and it’s become one of my favorite attractions at #NYCC. In general, I love the spirit of cosplay which allows anyone to be anything, if only for the day.

Attendees of NY Comic Con — many dressed in cosplay — move throughout the Javits Center.

The four-day event also brings sellers and collectors of comic book back issues.

Around 150,000 fans paid to attend NY Comic Con this year, which typically draws around 250,000 attendees. The event’s organizer chose to sell fewer badges after the event was canceled last year due to safety concerns over Covid-19.

Comic Con attracts fans of fantasy worlds as well as comic books, anime and video games.
